National Breast Cancer Foundation The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the leading community-funded national organisation in Australia, supporting and promoting research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Since the establishment of the NBCF in 1994, over $67 million has been awarded to 256 research projects across Australia to improve the health and well-being of breast cancer victims. Research programs funded by the NBCF cover every aspect of breast cancer, from increasing understanding of genetics to improving ways to support women and their families. Ronald McDonald House RMHC is an independent, non-profit organisation, that helps seriously ill children and their families when they need it most. Founded in memory of McDonald's creator, Ray Kroc, who believed in charitable works as a way of putting something back into the community. McDonald's Australia pays all administration and management costs of RMHC and are a generous donor, the rest of the essential funds we require we raise ourselves. Since opening their first Ronald McDonald House in 1981 they have helped over 65,000 families and 1 in 8 Australian's have been helped or know someone who has used one of our programs. |
Roller Hawks The Roller Hawks entered the National Wheelchair Basketball League in 2001, becoming the first regional team to play in the League, which made its appearance in 1984. Although many of the athletes who play in the League are Australian representatives and / or Paralympians, they are not professional athletes as their NBL able-bodied players are. The Jammers The Jammers were established in 1993 by Sport & Recreation Services of The Disability Trust as part of the funding to create sport & recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in the Illawarra. Participants meet weekly to go through the various skills associated with the game of basketball and transfer these skills to games. Participants play intergroup competitions amongst one another for trophies and medals.
