Chairman's Message

Business support is an primary and vital foundation for the success of your Club both on and off the field and I would like to invite you to be a part of the Wollongong Hawks in 2011-12.

Rich in history, the Wollongong Hawks are the last remaining Foundation Club in the National Basketball League. 32 years on and still standing strong the Club continues to exist as a result of our passionate Members, sponsors, corporate partners, players, volunteers and staff.

I am filled with pride when I look on the achievements of our community owned Club over the past two years.

Not only have we continued to amaze , entertain and have one of the most successful on court seasons in the Club history, we have also seen a continue increase in Game Night attendance, Membership and overall following for the sport of basketball in the region. I am also proud of our off court achievements of the life impacting work with our community initiatives are having.

These community initiatives have included connecting with over 10,000 children with our local school programs and positively impacting public and private schools from the Northern Beach's to Nowra. As a club we are leading the way at being proactive with addressing social issues and in February 2011 launched our "Right Choices" initiative with the support of the NSW State Government. This program has already seen inspirational results as it is rolled out within local High Schools.

We have aligned ourselves with charities such as the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, KidsWish and a number of local organisations giving them a voice for their cause at a local and national level.

Continued support has been given to our local "Jammers" (Disability Trust Basketball Program) and "Roller Hawks" (Illawarra's National Wheelchair Basketball Team).Our team has been actively involved in Midnight Basketball, a national social inclusion program to help youth identify and embrace positive opportunities.

As a Club we continue to develop basketball in the region supporting the Illawarra Basketball Association, School Holiday Clinics and more recently the underpinning of the Illawarra Basketball Waratah Championship League Program which starts in April 2011.

On top of this we have seen our team at our local community events including school fetes, festivals and the inaugural ahm Check IT men's health day.

We are proud to have a professional national basketball Club which is owned by the community and is a pillar of our community, encouraging people to be proud of our region.
